We arrived the day before the big election, and spent Election Day with a friend of ours in Untermeyer Park in Yonkers.  Walking over to her parents’ house to pick her up, we were surprised to see so many Trump signs in the neighborhood.  When we arrived, her parents were heading out to vote, and her dad was cheering, “Trump, Trump, Trump”.  I assumed he was joking, especially since he is Puerto Rican.  Turns out, he wasn’t joking.  And turns out that even though his vote as a New Yorker didn’t count, a lot of people in this country also voted for Trump.  Next week, we will be visiting the White House.  Might be the last time before it turns gold.  In this strange moment in American history, we are happy to be here to commiserate with our friends, enjoying the beauty New York offers during this time of uncertainty…
